After the birth of my son, I started to face the issues of skin burning, redness and tiny bumps on my skin. My skin never felt like this before. I began to get worried when I saw myself every day in the mirror, without realising about the food I was eating. Changes in food habits made a massive difference to my skin and my body.
Well, everybody skin is different, but while doing a bit of research, I figured out some of the common foods that trigger skin conditions like acne and redness, which is called inflammation. Small pimples or breakouts indicate gut health. The gut is significantly telling you to change the diet. So, I did!!!!
Let's have a look at familiar foods that cause acne and inflammation -
1) Sugar
2) Dairy
3) Gluten
When we eat foods with a high glycemic, it creates inflammation that can worsen certain skin conditions. High-glycemic is commonly present in white bread, soda drinks, salad dressings, candies, and other baked goods that contain refined & processed sugars and starches that increase the inflammation in the skin and is a crucial component in acne formation.
Dairy can also affect the immune system, which causes inflammation in the body. Research shows skim milk contains whey protein, commonly found in skim milk, which is pro-inflammatory which can manifest as acne and rosacea.
Gluten raises insulin levels that make the skin problems worse, especially acne. It also plays a vital role in affecting the collagen levels in the body.
When will Magic happen?
Magic will not happen overnight; It takes approximately two to three weeks to see improvement in your skin once you remove sugar, dairy and gluten from your diet and allow your body to detox. Be patient and kind to yourself when it comes to any new skin treatments and cutting all the inflammatory food is no exception.
If you are struggling in finding out about changes happening in your skin and body. Give a try to eliminate all the above food.
